Susan G. Komen for the Cure

Last weekend my friends and I showed up to a horse race with an alligator just before sunrise.  We registered for the Susan G. Komen 5k thinking we were going to be competitive participants. Brought our ipods, tennis shoes, and definitely didn't fix up our pageant faces. Turns out this is a big deal, 44,000 people kind of deal.  It was one of the neatest fundraisers I have participated in and I will for sure be attending again.  The streets were lined with entertaining supports who had specially made shirts (Fight the war in my rack), Music blaring (There were quite a few bands set up even!), and free beverages.  It took 2 hours to complete the 5k walking amongst so many survivors-you couldn't run at all.  Then afterwards they had a survivors only lap which of course was very hard to keep your eyes dry.  We participated in a cancer study where they are researching for abnormal genes. We donated a sample of our saliva.

Before HP built the large Conway building, this is where it was located, downtown Little Rock. I would have been in a COMPLETELY different environment!!! Kind of neat.

This touched my heart.

Survivor lap-They all wore pink shirts.
