Ariel's trip

"Beer is for breakfast drink or be gone"  We had a hearty breakfast to prepare for our hiking

Mt. Nebo

Cabins you can rent on top of Mt. Nebo

Petit Jean Mtn.

I know, I look 14 years old.

Still atop Petit Jean Mtn.

This trail lead to a 95 ft waterfall

It was supposed to take 2 hrs but we did it in 55 minutes

It was 88 degrees out, nice and sweaty

Cedar Falls

Toad Suck Park :)
Ariel loved Whole Hog bbq. It looks like this is going to be the favorite place around here. My mouth is watering just looking at these ribs again.

Some Gerbers-Ariel's housewarming gift!

River Market downtown Little Rock

That Diet Coke is a glass bottle-coolest thing.  Even cooler was that the burgers we ordered took a little longer than expected so the guy gave us a $5.00 bill back and gave us free refills on our drinks.  Way way too nice as we didn't even raise a fuss and he felt horrible that we had to wait for our food.  Once again, the people down here are the nicest I have seen.

We didn't even realize it was called Mason's until we were done eating

Pedestrian/biking bridge downtown Little Rock. It has an elevator on both sides that can fit two bicyclists at a time. Pretty neat lift bridge to keep barge/large boat traffic moving as well as the people walking into North Little Rock.

Today was the hottest yet-I am not complaining though!

Yee want tu Vizit? Oui! Oui!

Because I don't feel like unpacking the rest of my clothes and jewelry, and because I have a special visitor coming TODAY I have spent some time getting the second bedroom ready!
I still want to paint the shelving units white but I figure I have plenty of time still.

I am also going to make the back wall a picture wall once I take more photos from the state parks I visit and blow them up to be black and white.  I have been collecting fiffffy fiiiive  cent frames from goodwill.

I handmade this from driftwood I found along the river and beaches around here and then used some twine.

Ok I wish-it really was made my skilled Indonesian artisans.  But the tag is still on it and the receipt is handy in case I do make one.
Once again, thank you TJ Maxx clearance shelves. Too nice, too too nice.

Cantaloupe Coma

You can tell it has been awhile since I have had a good ripe cantaloupe as I eat half of the dang thing in a sitting!

Today I visited the AR DMV here in Conway to see what all needs to be done to switch over and be a legitimate Arkie.  Then I traveled to Little Rock and WOW is that a big city.  It reminds me a lot of Minneapolis as it is right on the Arkansas River and all.  It is also about 30 minutes away.

I am currently on the hunt for a nice big clock to fill this wall space behind me as well as some patio furniture.

I found this at Kirkland's marked down from $69.99 to $19.99 and it is big, bright, and light, but I will be returning it tomorrow.  It is just not what I have in mind.

I also stopped at a visitor center today and a lady helped me load up on plenty of reading material to see what all is around here and where to take my lovely visitors when they arrive!!
I hauled out a cart  on my "balcony?" and a beer and then a glass of cupcake pinot grigio while I researched.  While I was out there a car was going by the road that you see and at the same time a guy was teeing off and you guessed it....the car was hit by the golf ball.  I see a lot of hooks on my porch as I am on a very narrow fairway.  No windshields were broken, I think it landed on his hood, it all happened so fast and I was very entertained-just glad it wasn't me.

You can tell I am right on the Bible belt.  This is a brochure for some caves.

Then I spray painted all of my wine glasses white and tried to turn a green vase white...That one will be coming down, I will just have to finish off a bottle of wine first.

It is amazing what a person can get done each day when 8 hours aren't spent working.  You can also take your sweet time at it too as you have all day.
OH RETIREMENT COME TO ME.

Margarita Bomb?

Ever listen to Johnny Cash and Garth Brooks covers by a one man mexican band while eating tasty mexican food?

Ever ordered a margarita and it came with a corona?

Ever woke up too early and moved all morning in order to play all afternoon? Hence the bags under the eyes.

Ever sat in nature's most uncomfortable chair?

It was 85 degrees yesterday but a measly 50 degrees today. I have been warned that the temps jump from day to day, morning to night.  Great thing for a girl who loves change.

Oh, and there was a tornado today that was tracked for 4 miles in SE Arkansas.

Scratch the before-here is the after

I thought I took before pics of the bathrooms but I guess that is the only room I missed.  Here is my guest bathroom that is somewhat finished (for now) after spending a whopping $35.00

You visitors have room to stay awhile or at least sprawl out a little.

Rugs $10.00 EA so worth it as they are the fuzziest things on the planet
Wall decor $11.99
Fake goodness $1.00 EA
Soap dish-rock from the Arkansas River
Everything else I pieced together from my belongings.
I could decorate bathrooms all day. I do not know why this intrigues me so.  I am almost satisfied with mine but not quite.

Here is a glimpse of what it looks like right now.  I used an antique coffee set that Jim got me a few years ago and went from there...I am on the hunt for some good fake grass to put in my re-purposed wine bottle behind my frame. Lisa-I am so excited to see that frame everyday when I am getting ready for work :)  So far only $3.00 spent on the magnified mirror so I can see the back of my hair do's.  TJ Maxx is waaaay toooo niiiiice toooo meeee with the clearance selections.  This looks very utilitarian to me right now and I am not sure if it will stay or not.

Yep-I have already changed this since these pictures have been taken.
